Chips JU Consultation Workshop on Skills

12 Sep 2025

Chips JU is organising a dedicated online consultation workshop on 12 September 2025, 14:00 – 16:30 CEST, to explore the potential scope of a skills-focused call in the upcoming Chips JU Work Programme 2026.

Skilled professionals are at the heart of Europe’s semiconductor ambitions. Meeting the targets set for the European Chips Act will require several hundred thousand experts with specialised knowledge and hands-on experience. Yet today, Europe faces significant challenges: a shortage of young talent pursuing semiconductor careers, limited specialised training for advanced technologies, and insufficient infrastructure to support education and lifelong learning. Addressing these gaps calls for strong, coordinated action across the ecosystem.

During the workshop:

  • Chips JU actions such as pilot lines, design platforms and competence centres will present their current contributions to skills development, identify missing elements, and propose new opportunities within the Chips JU framework.

  • Industry insights will be shared by representatives of the three Industry Associations – AENEAS, EPoSS and INSIDE – reflecting the perspectives of large industry, SMEs, and academia.

  • The European Commission will present its portfolio of skills-related initiatives and outline plans for the years ahead.

In the second part of the workshop, panellists and participants will engage in an interactive discussion to shape the design of a potential dedicated call on skills, ensuring complementarity with existing Chips JU activities and addressing the most urgent needs of the ecosystem.

The detailed agenda and list of panellists will be available soon. Please register here.

We warmly invite AENEAS members and all interested organisations to join us and contribute to this important discussion.
