The European Chips Skills Academy (ECSA), a key initiative co-funded by the European Union and coordinated by SEMI Europe, is launching a new survey to assess the evolving skills needs of the European microelectronics sector. AENEAS, as a partner in the ECSA project, invites all stakeholders—including industry professionals, educators, and policymakers—to contribute to this essential study.
Addressing the Skills Challenge in Microelectronics
The microelectronics industry in Europe faces significant skills shortages, posing challenges to its competitiveness and growth. To remain at the forefront of global innovation, the sector must anticipate and adapt to emerging trends in skills and workforce development.
In response to these challenges, ECSA brings together 18 partners from 12 countries, encompassing industry leaders, national and EU industry associations, educational institutions, and regulatory bodies in accreditation and certification. The Academy aims to:
- Analyse key trends impacting the sector and update the EU Microelectronics Skills Strategy.
- Establish a decentralised training academy that bridges industry, research, higher education, and vocational training.
- Develop innovative training programmes and curricula to address current and future skills gaps.
- Implement the EU Pact for Skills to strengthen workforce development across the sector.
Contribute to the 2025 Skills Needs Assessment
Building on the legacy of the METIS project, which has conducted extensive skills analyses since 2020, ECSA is now launching this survey to track and understand the evolving skills landscape in microelectronics for 2025. Your participation will help shape strategic decisions and training initiatives that directly impact the industry’s future workforce.
Take a few minutes to complete the survey and help drive Europe’s microelectronics sector towards a more resilient and skilled future.
