The three Industry Associations, AENEAS, EPoSS and INSIDE, proudly present the final release of the eighth edition of the Electronic Components and Systems (ECS) Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (ECS-SRIA) shaped by the experts of the ECS community and coordinated by the three Industry Associations.
This edition reflects the most recent technological and strategic trends in the ECS industry and serves as a basis to prepare project proposals for the upcoming Chips JU Calls 2025 and the Xecs Eureka Call 5.
What’s New in the 2025 edition?
While already present in earlier editions, quantum technologies are getting additional attention in this new edition. The same holds for the irruption and disruption of AI tools in the practices of the ECS community, and of the digital society at large. The importance of the RISC-V and Open-Source Hardware trend is further reiterated. The new agenda insists on the potential of silicon photonics to implement the critical bandwidth and communications-intensive connections required by the development of the global internet traffic and of distributed AI. The emergence of chiplets as a potential game-changer of our industry is discussed in the introduction, while several chapters go into the related technology requirements. Last but not least, sustainability is present across the whole document, with many research topics focusing on improving the energy performance of the ECS industry and reducing its environmental footprint.
