ICOS Workshop- European strengths and gaps in emerging semiconductor technologies

11 Sep 2023

AENEAS, a partner of the ICOS « International Cooperation on Semiconductors » project consortium, is pleased to announce the next ICOS Workshop “European strengths and gaps in emerging semiconductor technologies”  that will take place during ESSDERC-ESSCIRC in Lisbon, on September 11-14, 2023 (September 11 afternoon for the Workshop).

The main objectives of this Workshop are:

  • Review of the main EU and non-EU semiconductor ecosystems
  • Review of the main EU and International activities and most promising technologies (targeting the leading semiconductor countries: USA, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapour, China..) in the field of Advanced Computing and Functionalities, Smart Energy, Smart Sensors, Energy Harvesting and Semiconductor-based photonics.

These reviews will allow to highlight the strengths of the main leading Institutions in each country (Universities, RTO, Industry) in each technological area, and will be carried out on the basis of the expertise of ICOS partners and knowledge in this field, on the input of the Roadmap teams for these research activities, on publications and possibly using other supports.

This work will contribute to ICOS “Recommendations for international research cooperation” for the European Commission and will be used by the EC for future joint calls between EU and other leading semiconductor countries.

ABOUT ICOS

ICOS aims to support the growth of the European Semiconductor and Semiconductor-based photonics industry through focused international research cooperation. The objectives of ICOS are to propose International cooperation on emerging technologies, based on the most promising topics highlighted in Internationals Roadmaps for various applications, especially in the field of advanced computing, advanced functionalities, and sustainable electronics.

The project was officially launched on 19 January 2023. The project consortium includes a network of partners from 9 European countries– the main actors in the domain: universities, research and technology organisations (RTOs), key semiconductors companies, and industrial associations.
