AENEAS and QuIC signed a Memorandum of Understanding

12 Oct 2022

A big leap forward for the European quantum and semiconductor industries

12th October 2022 – AENEAS, an industry association active in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics enabled components and systems and the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC), an association dedicated to the growth of the pan-European quantum technology industry, jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

As part of the MoU, AENEAS and QuIC will formalise communication channels between organisations, and further stimulate discussions around quantum technologies and advances in semiconductor technologies. In addition, both associations will engage in collaborations and joint activities on topics of shared interest, notably the EU Chips Act.

AENEAS is embedded within the European Electronics Systems and Components (ECS) ecosystem and plays a pivotal role as a partner on the side of the private members in the Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking (KDT JU). QuIC brings together large enterprises, SMEs, investors, and start-ups, operating as a collaborative hub for quantum throughout Europe. It holds a vibrant ecosystem between business and leading research and technology organisations active in the quantum field. Collaboration between AENEAS and QuIC should strengthen synergies between stakeholders of both domains.

“QuIC is delighted to join forces with AENEAS in spurring the integration of quantum capabilities and solutions with next-generation micro- and nanotechnology systems. The collaboration will strengthen both Europe’s chipmaking and quantum technology industries,” states Dr Thierry Botter, Executive Director of QuIC.

“AENEAS is pleased to facilitate closer RD&I cooperation between companies and institutes in the field of Electronic Components and Systems (ECS) and their counterparts working on Quantum technologies. This cooperation will trigger exchanges in the development of relevant strategic industry roadmaps supporting the goals of the Chips for Europe initiative in pillar 1 of the EU Chips Act”, states Caroline Bedran, Director General of AENEAS.

About AENEAS
