Penta – German webinar by BMBF and VDI/VDE

21 Dec 2020

Date: 21 January 2021

Time: 10:00 – 11:00

The webinar will be hosted with representatives of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and its project management agency VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH on funding in Call 6 of the PENTA initiative.

After the success of the 2019 and 2020 joint initiatives, the two EUREKA-funded Clusters dedicated to collaborative industrial innovation – EURIPIDES² and PENTA – have once again joined forces and launched the 2021 Call on 25 November at EFECS 2020, a Call which will close on 26 February 2021.

PENTA targets transnational innovation supporting National priorities in micro and nano electronics enabled systems and applications. EURIPIDES² focuses on smart electronic systems and smart systems integration from components to systems.

Based on the feedback provided by EFECS 2020 participants, the final version of the new 2021 Electronic Components & Systems (ECS) Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) has been published by the three Industry Associations AENEAS, ARTEMIS-IA and EPoSS on 12 January 2020 during the ECS Brokerage Event 2021, an event co-organised by the Associations. This year, a major revision of the ECS-SRIA was conducted with the goal of improving alignment in the community to help collaboration along the European value chains and value networks. System of Systems.

Four key digital technologies describing the foundational technology layers and four cross-sectional technologies focusing on transversal areas of ECS scientific research and engineering are covered. The innovations generated by these interdisciplinary cross-sectional technologies further fertilize the foundational layers, creating a necessary virtuous cycle that amplifies the effects of innovation and injects them into the key ECS application domains.

For the 2021 PENTA and EURIPIDES² Call, projects can be submitted in all areas of the SRIA. However, as some countries have specific priorities in terms of funding criteria, project managers and partners are strongly urged to review their Project Ideas with the Public Authorities concerned at an early stage to ensure that there is close alignment between the project goal and national priorities.
