Platform for Automotive Semiconductor Requirements along the Supply Chain- kickoff meeting in Frankfurt at the VDE

On June 27 and 28 the kick-off event for the new VDE-ITG Expert Group MN5.7 “Platform for automotive semiconductor requirements along the supply chain” [VDE ITG MN 5.7] will take place in Frankfurt at the VDE.
What is it about?
The mission of the Platform for Automotive Semiconductor Requirements along the Supply Chain is to connect, to collaborate and to align the whole electronics supply chain (vehicle-OEM, Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier n) including the semiconductor manufacturing supply chain (equipment and materials suppliers, device manufactures, design companies, system integrators) on non-competitive issues and related activities that are of mutual interest and benefit to all stakeholders, in an effort to leverage synergies by creating regional forums where such issues can be discussed and addressed collectively and transparently towards standardization bodies. Especially issues related towards the transparency and gap closure regarding existing but not sufficiently specified capability limitations for semiconductor usage and integration (introduction of appropriate new automotive classes, associated standardized reference mission profiles and qualification criteria) are in focus.
Thus, supply chain alignment for (improved) technology road mapping (performance needed) and requirement consolidation with non-automotive industry sectors to enhance harsh environmental & automotive features implementation is targeted.
Who should attend?

Vendors along the whole automotive electronics supply chain including semiconductor vendors (fabless, foundry, IDMs) supplying or intending to supply to the automotive sector, electronic system suppliers (Tier1) supplying or intending to supply to the automotive sector, vehicle manufacturers responsible for the overall development and integration of complex electronic systems and also other vendors (SW companies, EDA Tool vendors etc.) being part of the new automotive digital and or power electronics ecosystem in EUROPE (Pilot region – approach target parallel platform in other world regions).
The TRACE project consortium is very pleased that they have been able to initiate this technical committee. With the Informationstechnische Gesellschaft of the VDE, they have another important technical organization in which they can introduce the TRACE methodology into an expert group and standardisation work and then implement the results of their project sustainably and concretely in the direction of standards.
