Financial contributions

  • For Members participating in ENIAC, PENTA or ECSEL projects

The private members of ECSEL (AENEAS, ARTEMIS-IA, EPoSS) are financing ~50% of the operational costs of the ECSEL JU. To this end, AENEAS asks all its members who are participating in ENIAC and/or ECSEL JU projects to contribute with a Variable Contribution. The private members of the ECSEL JU (AENEAS, ARTEMIS-IA and EPoSS) have agreed to a coordinated approach to invoicing contributions so that organisations who are members of the 2 or even 3 Associations are not charged double or triple amounts.

Furthermore, AENEAS is responsible for running all aspects of the PENTA programme. To fund this, AENEAS asks all members who are participating in PENTA projects to contribute with a Variable Contribution.

  • The Variable Contribution is based on the Maximum Possible Funding of each Member and its Affiliated Companies.

  • The Maximum Possible Funding is the National Funding to be received as expected at the start of the project in case of PENTA projects and the sum of National Funding + ENIAC/ECSEL JU Funding in case of ENIAC or ECSEL projects.

  • The Variable Contribution is based on funding for the full project.

  •  It is divided and invoiced in 3 instalments over 3 consecutive years.

Following the General Assembly of November 2016, the Variable Contribution has been set at 1.5% of the Maximum Possible Funding for 2017 invoices

In 2017, invoices for projects of ECSEL Calls 2014 1-2, 2015 1-2 and of ENIAC Calls 8-9 will be sent. PENTA will not be invoiced in 2017.

For further details about invoicing, please refer to the clause 1 of the Internal Regulations.

  • Project Partners in ECSEL or ENIAC who are not members of AENEAS

Non-Members of AENEAS can commit themselves in writing towards AENEAS, by signing and by execution of a Declaration of Acceptance (DoA) to pay a Variable Contribution.

It is important to note that PENTA projects can only be labelled if all project participants are either AENEAS members or have signed a PENTA Declaration of Acceptance.

For more information about the Declaration of Acceptance (DoA) please click here.

For further details about invoicing, please refer to the clause 1 of the Internal Regulations.

  • For C Members (Corporate) Only

In accordance with clause 2 of the Internal Regulations, all C members have agreed to pay an Extra-Variable Contribution for non-contributing non-members, otherwise known as free-riders (defined as not being members of AENEAS and have not signed a DoA), participating in the same ENIAC/ECSEL JU projects as they are.

For further details, please refer to the clause 2.3 of the Internal Regulations.
